Hydro Excavation
Hydro excavation is a non-destructive process that uses pressurized water and industrial strength vacuum to simultaneously excavate and evacuate soil. This method of excavation is commonly referred to as "soft excavation" and is commonly accepted as being equivalent to hand digging within the "tolerance zone" around underground facilities.
Since hydro excavation uses water to break up soil, it reduces the potential damage to the underground infrastructure while maintaining a productive rate of excavation where utilities may be buried. The hydro excavation process, which results in safe, fast, precise excavations, is the ideal solution for applications such as potholing/daylighting, slot trenching, debris removal, exposing utilities, piling hole excavation, cold weather digging and remote digging.
Using a hydro excavator with water as your tool gives you several key advantages.
- Water is more productive, especially in tough soils
- Water controls static electricity
- Water prevents the sandblasting affect of high-speed air
- Water acts as its own lubricant
- Water can be heated for frozen ground excavation
